A global organization in the energy technology and refining solutions industry is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Inventory Finance to join its Houston-based finance team. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen financial oversight and decision support related to inventory performance across the business.
This individual will serve as the finance subject-matter expert for inventory, partnering closely with the Operations, Supply Chain, and Accounting teams to support inventory planning, lifecycle management, and financial reporting. The role will play an important part in ensuring that inventory decisions align with broader financial performance goals, including working capital optimization and margin management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inventory Finance Leadership
- Serve as the primary finance partner for inventory-related decisions across the organization.
- Provide financial insight to Operations and Supply Chain teams on inventory planning and performance.
- Monitor inventory levels across product lines and locations, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities.
Planning & Inventory Strategy
- Support inventory forecasting aligned with demand planning and revenue outlooks.
- Evaluate inventory strategies, including safety stock levels, build strategies, and end-of-life inventory management.
- Provide financial input into inventory lifecycle planning and product ramp strategies.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
- Analyze the financial impact of inventory decisions on margins, costs, and working capital.
- Track inventory aging and identify potential risks related to excess or obsolete inventory.
- Develop financial analysis and reserve recommendations to support inventory valuation decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain leadership to improve inventory planning processes and performance visibility.
- Support financial planning initiatives related to new product introductions and supply chain changes.
Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure inventory-related activities align with internal accounting policies and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with corporate accounting teams on inventory reconciliations and reporting during month-end close cycles.
- Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory accounting and reporting.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in FP&A, supply chain finance, cost analysis, or inventory-focused finance roles
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with operations and supply chain teams
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, or product-based organizations is strongly preferred
