JOB SUMMARY:
An international freight forwarding company located in the Greenspoint area is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team full-time. The Staff Accountant will possess general ledger accounting skills, superior organizational skills, and a commitment to consistent quality and accuracy of work. This position will also report directly to the Finance Manager.
JOB DUTIES:
- Follow up with AR collections and accounts payable
- Verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
- Bank reconciliation
- Ensure journal entries are reconciled monthly
- Responsible for month-end closing, journal entries, and cash flow analysis
- Research and resolve issues about vendors, statements, and payments
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of previous accounting experience
- Accounting software(s) programs and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
- Familiarity working with Ocean Carriers, truckers, agents
- Cargowise and Freight Forwarding Experience is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, professional interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and thorough in work, with the ability to work well under pressure
- Highly motivated team player
- Good problem-solving abilities, a strong sense of internal control, and a keen eye for details and process improvements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
